Arno's talent was nurtured by eminent professor in the European School of fine Arts whehe he studied Impresiionism and PortraitureAfter moving to Australia he has held over 36 successful solo exhibitions.
Some of his commissions have included portraits of Albert Schweitzer, Cardinal Wendel of Bavaria, Dr Vogel Lord Mayor of Munich and former Prime Minister of Australia, Robert J. Hawke.
Arno is also well known for his 10 Rigby Sketch books of Australia Heritage sites.
He has won nunerous prizes and award. The most notable, achieving world acclaim at the International Exhibition in France.
He was runner-up with one of his classical Australia Bushmen, now on permanent display at the Australian Embassy in Paris.
Arno is also Co-Founder of the Pastel Society of Victoria.
Typically, his work includes studies of Australian Bushmen, Portraits of what he describes as "Interestig Heads" , Ballet dancers, Nudes
Horses, Landscapes, Flowers and Still life.
Although he works in all media, he finds pastel the most interesting and satisfying as the colour pigments are stable and do not change with time.
He regards it as a soft medium, enabling him to create superb effects particularly in skin tones and light.
