Alison has developed her style and technique by experimenting, studying and participating in workshops with successful artists, among them John Wilson at his studio in the Blue Mountains, and Warwick Fuller in the beautiful Kanimbla Valley, noting their methods and experimenting along her own lines with media and technique. She has been selected as an exhibiting finalist in the Lethbridge Landscape Prize Brisbane, and exhibiting finalist Rotary Art Spectacular in Brisbane multiple times, as well as Camberwell Rotary Art Show and Downlands Toowoomba. Experienced in the use of graphite, pen, coloured pencils, acrylics, pastel and oils, her earliest works were commissions to draw or paint historic buildings and other subjects. More recently her preference is to use oils or pastels to produce landscapes, seascapes and beach scenes, with an interest in figure studies and fine pen detail work. Her works have been awarded prizes at numerous regional shows. She has participated in group exhibitions when time allowed, and her work has been acquired by Shire Councils, City Councils and Regional Government Departments as well as by private collectors nationally.
