ARTIST BIO

Pam Adams is a Melbourne-based Australian watercolour artist who divides her time between Australia and Portugal.

She is inspired by the patterns and sculptural beauty to be found in flowers and leaves in their natural habitats and particularly enjoys painting close-ups of nature.

Pam was born in England and grew up in Portugal before moving to Japan and later Brazil.  Her artistic career really began whilst living in Tokyo and studying Japanese sumi-e painting.  She also learned to appreciate the importance of space and simplicity of design through studies of traditional Japanese woodblock printing.

An interest in botanical watercolour was awakened when she moved back to Australia in 1998.  More recently she ventured into the world of plein air painting. 

Now she is painting somewhere in between these influences, incorporating movement and colour atmosphere and line into her watercolours while retaining the all-important essence of her botanical subjects.

Pam is a member of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists where she exhibits regularly and her paintings can be found in private collections in the U.S., Mexico, Europe, the U.K., Japan and Australia.
