ARTIST BIO

As a young child in India, I wistfully looked at the far away mountains – immense and mysterious. I longed to reach those far away places. My dream came true when I left India for Canada and a new life.

I settled in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1990 and worked at a variety of jobs. As a chef and found I had a flare for putting together flavors and textures. I also enjoyed creating through gardening and photography - capturing life from many different angles.

Working and pursuing these hobbies, I also completed a BA in Nursing from UVIC. That's where I met my best friend and wife. We now have three children under the age of nine.

As a young child I was always interested in art, but never had a chance to paint. Finally now I had an opportunity. I was surprised how much I enjoyed a watercolor medium. What started as a hobby developed into a passion. Joseph Zbukvic has influenced me, and he is the ONE who taught me how to paint watercolors.

2009, I entered the prestigious Sidney Fine Arts show. Although I thought I'd be rejected but  I was accepted. In 2011 I receive “Best in Show” award at Sidney Fine Arts.

Also, I received an award of excellence in the Federation of Canadian Artist (FCA) 2011 spring show.

A watercolor medium is unforgiving and complex. But there also is softness to it. It is unpredictable and at the same time exciting, allowing me to reflect and compose in the present. It happens quickly under the brush and transforms itself as I focus. It reminds me to let go and just be. I can let go of past fears and accept life as it is ... I see life from new perspectives - growing and transforming - taking on many forms, colors, shapes - truths revealed in the form of everyday scenes.

I still love to look at scenery, yet it is not the far away mountains that inspire me, it is the vibrancy of life around me.

Currently my work is represented by Peninsula Art Gallery in Sidney, Canada, The gallery in Oak Bay and I just started to give workshops through Coast collective Art gallery.
