WID This artist studied traditional drawing for a year at the Glasgow School of Art and has subsequently continued to practise the basics taught there, across each week ever since. "WID" chooses to remain anonymous in relation to gender, age or image, believing that all that is important is the image created and not the creator of same. This artist also believes that art is about the people and must always remain accessible to them and affordable to the broad community at large. The artist also believes that the ultimate success is found in creating an image which so pleases another human being's eyes and senses, that they feel compelled to purchase/own the work. WID is never more fulfilled than when depicting the human form of people going about their everyday lives. Across several years and trials of various pigments via watercolour, oil, acrylic and pastel, the artist found the greatest contrast and visual satisfaction from the use of chinese ink and pastel. The resulting dramatic aspect of the two together has afforded the artist the greatest "clean" colour. Line drawing and also charcoal work has always figured largely in the artist's work. Personal Portraits, Private Homes, Social Centres (markets, clubs etc.)and City Scenes are all portrayed in this artist's work. Private Commissions form the major portion of each week's artwork even in this climate of economic downturn. Similarly, Word of mouth advertising has also shown good results. The artist's work hangs in restaurants, offices and private homes in Scotland, England, Wales, Canada, U.S.A.,Malaysia, Germany, Philippines, New Zealand and 5 states of Australia. |
